‘Free Somyos’ activities
Workers and activists in Indonesia and Bangladesh have held protests at Thai Embassies, demanding the release of Somyos Prueksakasemsuk. More protests will be held in Hong Kong and Australia this week.
On 27 June, about 20 members of the Confederation of Congress of Indonesian Unions Alliance (Konfederasi KASBI) protested at the Thai Embassy in Jakarta against the detention of Somyos, who was arrested for lèse majesté on 30 April and has been denied bail since.

The activists submitted a letter addressed to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva through the Embassy, demanding the release of Somyos and all political prisoners.
They also urged the Thai government to stop using Article 112 of the Criminal Code, to abolish censorship laws, to reform the military and judiciary, and to punish those responsible for the killings in April and May last year.
On 24 June, about 30 members of the National Garment Workers Federation held a similar protest at the Thai Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

On 15 June, members of the Clean Clothes Campaign from several European countries including the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and France, held a protest at the Thai Embassy in Denmark.

The Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions (HKCTU) and the Australia Asia Workers Link plan to hold protests at the Thai Consulates in Hong Kong and Melbourne, Australia, on 29 June and 1 July respectively.

Thailand's Prachatai is
Thailand's Prachatai is funded by the US Government approximately $55,000 USD or 1.5 million Thai Baht.
http://ned.org/where-we-work/asia/thailand
The board of directors are not "humanitarians" rather they are notorious American neo-con scum, like Francis Fukuyama, Zalmay Khalilzad, Frank Carlucci (2002), Will Marshall, and Vin Weber.
Ask yourself what's in it for them to undermine the Thai government via Prachatai's work, and why Prachatai doesn't disclose this funding anywhere on their site, especially around the "donation" button and their weepy plea for money.
If you're ok with betraying Thailand by consorting with foreign-funded traitors, that's fine, just please know that's what Prachatai is all about and they've been incredibly dishonest about it all this time.
Oh dear.... The notorious
Oh dear.... The notorious Tony has now appeared at Prachatai to madly denounce scum and traitors. What next? Even if we were to take seriously the accusation as having some relevance, $55,000 seems a drop when compared to the billions upon billions that the US has handed over to the Thai military and to arms of the Thai state that repress and torture. A recent example has been the training of Army snipers by US Marines. Why is that okay and considered valid while Prachatai is condemned for... providing information that is censored from much of the mainstream media? Isn't there just a little too much ideological inconsistency and lack of weight and judgement in this so-called conspiracy of scum and traitors?
Albert, if its no big deal
Albert, if its no big deal Prachatai is receiving money from the United States government, from a cabal of neo-con warmongers and war profiteers, then why didn't Prachatai fully disclose this next to their weepy plea for donations?
They have something to hide, and you are trying to spin and negate the gravity of their deception and the true nature of their work. These associations directly contradict what they claim to be, and what they claim they are working for.
No big deal as NED's
No big deal as NED's donations are open. They were in the 2009 Annual report. Here's the list:
Campaign Committee for Human Rights (CCHR)
$50,000 To protect human rights defenders in Thailand....
Cross Cultural Foundation
$50,000 To support and strengthen a network of lawyers involved in the protection of human rights....
Foundation for Community Educational Media (Prachatai)
$50,000 To provide the Thai public with a credible and respected source of independent news reporting and editorial commentary....
People’s Empowerment Foundation
$60,000 To foster discussion on fundamental issues regarding democratic development in Thailand....
But why, Tony, does $50,000
But why, Tony, does $50,000 seem so significant when the evil lot at the Pentagon, in the CIA and other such nasty places have poured billions into a military that has repressed and killed for decades? Why does this military assistance for criminal actions not bother you?
I'm a little confused.
I'm a little confused. Prachatai is receiving money from American neo-con scum. Does that mean good Americans approve of political prisoners?
The real scum are Thai Human Rights Watch who are in the pay of the government and never object to people being thrown in jail on trumped up charges.
If you are being funded by
If you are being funded by foreigners to destabilize your own nation, which this current particular Thai opposition is, from Thaksin, to his UDD movement, to the US government funded Prachatai, you are NOT a political prisoner, you are a traitor working against your own nation on behalf of a foreign agenda.
Neo-con scum is not funding Prachatai because they care about "political prisoners." Use your critical thinking skills and stop with the cognitive dissonance - or perhaps, just brazen lies to cover up Prachatai's deception over who funds them and what their real agenda is.

If Prachatai has been able to
If Prachatai has been able to scoop up some of the "National Endowment for Democracy", or CIA cash... good for them. Shan.org is undoubtedly funded by the DEA. Many lefties during the McCarthy era quit paying their phonebills, knowing that the FBI would pick up their tabs in order to keep the lines tapped. The key is to keep control of your organization regardless the source of your funding. Prachatai seems quite capable of doing just that.
Who's funding our lunatic friend TC? He seems to have totally lost control of his organization. Now someone's running up big comment-spam bills under his new, improved, TC brand label. The way he's pushing his funding angle, the only one he has, makes me wonder if corrupt US agencies don't purposely fund target organizations (1,000,000 baht is chump-change to them, they spent $USD430 million (!) on Iran) so they can then hire bona fide dupes like TC to denounce their targets' taking their own "filthy cash"?
Quit with the comment-spam TC. We've all got your employer's message, such as it is. Don't let the door hit you on the bottom on the way out.
I apologize to Samyot for
I apologize to Samyot for "dissing" his very real plight, brought on by his very forthright petition drive to repeal Article 112 by responding to the comment-spam before responding to reality. That is no doubt one of the aims of the comment-spammers : show up, throw bombs, and divert attention from the news at hand.
The news at hand is that Somyot and many others are being held political prisoner, imprisoned without trial, with no possibility of parole by the Royal Thai Army and Royal Thai Police acting in concert with the Royal Thai Courts. Sentence first - verdict afterwards couldn't pass the laugh test in Alice in Wonderland, and certainly cannot now, more than a century later, although the result of the Thai policy is no laughing matter... State Sponsored Terror against its own citizens, and now against American citizens as well.
Who is the support of the
Who is the support of the imperialist and neo liberalist in Thailand?
If we study the political history of this SEA regions, we will know that the Thai military, their back up puppet regime and the key institution are those who had been playing key role in hosting all imperialist power since 1970 to colonized the people in SEA
And it is well known that the military intelligence work closely between US and Thailand.
So, if anyone want to question any group receive fund from NED or any agencies related to the USA
They shall also question the Thai government, the military and elites.
If you are guinea anti neo liberalism, you should not be double standard.
Amusing how a week ago I was
Amusing how a week ago I was a nutter, and that suggesting Prachatai was US-funded was a wild conspiracy theory. Now that the cat is out of the bag, you are backpedaling and making excuses as to why it's ok to take money from a pack of foreign degenerate warmongers.
http://landdestroyer.blogspot.com/2011/02/neo-cons-for-human-rights.html
What sort of principles does one hold that wold take such blood-money? Either ignorant, or depraved, either way it doesn't bode well for an independent journalist outfit.
I'm going to keep posting these facts until (A) everyone knows Prachatai is funded directly by the US Government, of (B) they have the integrity to post it on their website themselves and stop begging for money as if they have none.
http://ned.org/where-we-work/asia/thailand
PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW WHO IS REALLY BEHIND PRACHATAI.
I'd hardly call it spamming, it is something Prachatai has the responsibility to post on their site themselves. Fine, if NED money is no big deal, why hide it? Put it up and let people decide for themselves whether such an organization funded in such a way, who has hidden it for so long is deserving of trust.
Isn't that what "democracy" is all about? Transparency and the ability to think for yourself? The hypocrisy here is so thick you could walk on it.
I'd like to share with you a
I'd like to share with you a quote used in a recent body of work featured here on Prachatai....
"You can't hide a dead elephant under a lotus leaf..."
Prachatai is funded directly by the US government via the National Endowment for Democracy.
http://ned.org/where-we-work/asia/thailand
In turn, the National Endowment for Democracy, along with other contrived organizations like Freedom House are chaired by Neo-Con scum behind the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Libya.
http://landdestroyer.blogspot.com/2011/02/neo-cons-for-human-rights.html
Prachatai often covers Freedom House's disingenuous postings regarding Thailand's current government, either ignorantly, or willfully covering up the fact that Freedom House is chaired by THAKSIN SHINAWATRA's lobbyist Kenneth Adelman, also of Edelman PR.
Now Prachatai is defending Thaksin's chief propagandist, Somyos, who most certainly does belong in jail and is most certainly not a "political prisoner." His publications call for violence, insurrection, and sedition, quite overtly.
If Prachatai's US government funding is no big deal, I challenge them to put it up on their website where ALL can see it and decide for themselves what to make of it. But ultimately, they have chosen to cover this "dead elephant" up thinking they could do it forever. The cat is out of the bag, I will not stop until they come clean.
You can censor me, sure, but then you're just as bad as the government you claim to be so nobly fighting against.
Peace...
Don't listen to this TC guy..
Don't listen to this TC guy.. he's prob a CIA agent. Prachatai editor lately faced lese majeste jail term for her website, it's real people.
Thailand has a Royalist Regime, that needs to go.
Looks like 84.85.228.47 is a
Looks like 84.85.228.47 is a provocateur who, unfortunately, needs to go. TC, like Emilio, apparently drags them in his wake.
CIA agent??? Probably not.
CIA agent??? Probably not. But....
Prachatai is 100% definitely funded by the US government to destroy Thailand's unity, remove the monarchy and all forms of nationalism, and install a puppet government under Thaksin Shinawatra - who will simply replace the Royal Thai Family with his own despotic hereditary dictatorship - then open up the nation's resources and people for full exploitation at the hands of his foreign backers. Already tried in 2004 with a FTA that would have destroyed the country.
His brother-in-law took over after 2006, and now his sister is literally running in his place. You don't like the Democrats that's fine but it is unconscionable to then turn to this tyrant in waiting, who is fully working with foreigners to undermine his own nation. AS IS PRACHATAI.
The evidence is irrefutable.
http://ned.org/where-we-work/asia/thailand
NED's board of directors are not "humanitarians" nor is the Freedom House which Prachatai dutifully covers on their website. They are degenerate, warmongering neo-cons and big-business representatives.
http://landdestroyer.blogspot.com/2011/02/neo-cons-for-human-rights.html
Thaksin Shinawatra's lobbying efforts, taken directly from the Senate.gov database - something you'd think a truly objective Prachatai would cover - but obviously hasn't. Reason? These guys are also degenerate neo-con scum, in fact Ken Adelman of Freedom House was ALSO Thaksin Shinawatra's paid lobbyist under Edelman.

I've just provided you with 100% verified links to official websites divulging all of this - truth most of which NO ONE EVEN KNOWS ABOUT - and certainly doesn't talk about. It's up to you to prove you are impartial, objective, and capable of critical thinking, and deal with these facts.
Simply calling me names doesn't change the fact that Prachatai and Thaksin are both funded and/or supported by a foreign government notorious for overthrowing governments, invading nations, and despoiling them politically, economically, and socially.
