A Bangkok-based computer programmer is the latest individual to be charged with both lese-majeste and the Computer Crimes Act.

Mr. Surapat, 40, was arrested on Thursday (Sept 1) at his home in Lat Prao. He was denied bail and has since been remanded at Bangkok Remand Prison.

CJ Hinke of Freedom Against Censorship Thailand reported yesterday that accusations of online content which breaches Article 112 (lese-majeste) stem from a Facebook profile, entitled "เราจะครองแผ่นดินโดย...". Mr. Surapat is accused of holding the account.

Reports have since suggested that private citizens may have been involved in the reporting of Mr. Surapat to Department of Special Investigations (DSI) officials.
