Prominent red shirt activist Kamol Duangphasuk, or known by his poet name Mainueng K. Kunthee, was reportedly shot dead by unknown assailants in front of a restaurant on Ladphrao Rd, according to Channel Three and Post Today newspaper.
According to the witness report, 5-6 gunshots were heard around 2pm when Komol was walking to his car at the restaurant’s car park. He fell on the ground with pool of blood and was later brought to Mayo Hospital’s emergency room.
Kamol was a leader of a red shirt faction called the Declaration of Street Justice Group, an activist group calling for release of political prisoners. He was also a poet who regularly published poems in Matichon Weekly Journal.
Prachatai failed to reach Suda Rangkupan, also a red shirt leader of the same red shirt faction who was with Komol when he was shot. She was not however injured, according to the resport.
