Junta confiscates Democrat medical kits citing national security

Not only Pheu Thai’s red bowls, but medical kits from the Democrats are also a threat to national security.

On Monday, 11 April 2016, the state authorities confiscated 1,271 medical kits from a Democrat Party politician’s house in the central province of Kamphaeng Phet, saying that it is a symbolic political act which could threaten national security, reported ASTV Manager Online.

Printed on the kits is an image of Abhisit Vejjajiva, the Democrat Party leader, and the message “With love and care, Abhisit Vejjajiva”.

1,271 medical kits were confiscated from two former Democrat MPs in Kamphaeng Phet Province today (Monday). The party planned to distribute the kits to their supporters in Phran Kratai and Mueang districts during the Songkran festival, reported ASTV Manager Online.

Some of the kits have been already distributed to Democrat supporters, but the authorities will find and confiscate them all, reported Manager Online.

In a related development, on Monday the Democrat Party declared that it opposes the draft charter, and also criticized the question which will be answered by voters during the referendum. The question asks whether the voters agree to let the Senate jointly vote to select the Prime Minister.

“Thailand needs a constitution which suppresses corruption and is at the same time democratic. Thailand should not be forced to choose between dictatorship and corruption,” said Abhisit
