The Appeal Court on Friday affirmed the decision of the Court of First Instance to sentence Somyos Prueksakasemsuk to 10 years in jail for editing lèse majesté articles written by others.   Somyos Prueksakasemsuk has been detained at Bangkok Remand Prison for almost four years.   He was found guilty of being the editor of Voice of Taksin monthly magazine which published two articles deemed to insult the King.

The Appeal Court on Thursday affirmed the decision of the Court of First Instance to acquit two red-shirt supporters who were accused of committing arson at the Central World shopping plaza during the 2010 political violence in Bangkok.    The public prosecutor accused Saichon Paebua, 32, and Pinit Channarong, 30, of committing arson at the Central World shopping plaza at Bangkok’s Ratchaprasong shopping district, killing Kittipong Somsuk, a red-shirt supporter who was hiding in the mall.

The Thai Appeal Court on May 8 affirmed the decision of the Court of First Instance, sentencing Ekkachai H. to three years and four months in jail and a fine of 66,666 baht for selling VCDs of a documentary on the Thai royal succession by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and copies of Wikileaks cables.
