A military court has accepted a case against eight individuals who participated in seminar last year on the junta-backed constitution. Three are human rights defenders who came merely to observe the event.    On 17 October 2017, Khon Kaen Military Court accepted a case against five student activists and three human rights defenders.

Jarupat (Pai) Boonpattararaksa is a member of Dao Din and a person who habitually uses Facebook in accessing various kinds of information and news. He is no different than the rest of us who can access social media more easily than 7-Eleven. He is one of thousands of people who shared a news story published BBC-Thai, but in his case a warrant for his arrest under Article 112 was issued for sharing this information. The person who has brought the case is a soldier. At this time, the police have taken Jatupat to the Khon Kaen police station to proceed with the case.

A military court in Thailand’s northeast has granted bail for a hunger striking anti-junta student activist. A t-shirt with the word “commoners" has been also deemed a threat to national security by a court officer.   On Tuesday, 23 August 2016, the military court in the northeastern province of Khon Kaen granted bail for Jatuphat Boonpattaraksa, also known as Phai, the pro-democracy activist who staged a hunger strike from 6 to 19 August.

Pro-democracy activists and lecturers visited a well-known anti-junta activist from Isaan, Thailand’s northeast, who has been stricken with a fever after more than a week of hunger striking behind bars. Chaturapat Boonyapatraksa, 25 and a youth activist from the New Democracy Movement (NDM), is being detained at Phu Khiao District Prison in the Isaan province of Chaiyaphum. Around 40 lecturers from Naresuan University and activists from Dao Din, a youth activist group based in Khon Kaen University, visited Chaturapat on Monday, 15 August 2016.

At 5.30 pm on Friday police arrested 14 activists wanted on arrest warrants for anti-junta activities at their safe house, Suan Nguen Mee Ma, Charoen Krung, Bangkok.    The police took them to Phra Ratchawang Police Station for interrogation.

About 100 people gathered at Bangkok’s Democracy Monument on Thursday when a group of embattled activists from Bangkok and Khon Kaen awaited arrest by the police and rallied against the military regime amid tight security.    On 25 June, 11 anti-junta student activists under the newly founded Neo Democracy Movement (NDM) protested against the military dictatorship at the Democracy Monument, Ratchadamnoen Avenue, Bangkok.   The rally began in the afternoon after the group left Suan Ngern Mee Ma, a place under the care of Sulak Sivaraks

About 20 police officers, most in plainclothes, have been deployed at the entrance to a Bangkok safe house of 11 of 14 student activists wanted on arrest warrants for protesting.    The 11 are wanted on arrest warrants for commemorating the first anniversary of the coup at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre and in Khon Kaen on 22 May.    Rangsiman Rome, one of the 11, told Prachatai that they will not resist arrest as this fight is coming to an end.
