Bangkok, Paris, 7 June 2019: Thai authorities must immediately release lèse-majesté detainee Siraphop Kornaroot, in accordance with a ruling made recently by a United Nations (UN) body, FIDH and Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR) urged today.

Bangkok, Paris, 5 November 2018: FIDH and its partner organization Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR) today petitioned the United Nations (UN) Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD) to seek the release of lèse-majesté defendant Siraphop Kornaroot. Since August 2012, the WGAD has found the detention of seven other individuals detained under Article 112 of the Thai Criminal Code (lèse-majesté) to be “arbitrary.”

On 7 August 2016, Thai citizens will vote in a referendum that will decide whether the draft constitution backed by Thailand’s military junta, the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), will become the country’s 20th charter since 1932.
