12 activists and protesters have been found guilty of sedition, among other charges, for participating in the 18 July 2020 Free Youth protest and given a suspended sentence of 2 months in prison and a fine of 2000 baht each.

The Dusit District Court has dismissed charges of violating the Emergency Decree against 15 activists and protesters for joining the Free Youth protest on 18 July 2020, but fined them 200 baht each for using a sound amplifier without permission.

A protest on Saturday (7 August) against the government’s mishandling of the Covid-19 pandemic was met with water cannon trucks and crowd control police armed with rubber bullets and tear gas, despite the target location being switched.

The suspension orders against Voice TV and Free Youth have been reviewed and lifted by the Criminal Court on 21 October. The Court also said that Prachatai, the Reporters, and the Standard enjoy the same protection under the Constitution.

The Thai authorities have issued an order under the Emergency Decree for an investigation into and possible suspension of four media outlets: Voice TV, Prachatai, The Reporters, and The Standard, as well as the student activist group Free Youth's Facebook page, for their coverage of the recent protests in Thailand.
