Despite the recent cyber-attacks on government websites from netizens opposed to the single internet gateway, the Thai authorities say that they will continue to study its feasibility. On Thursday afternoon, 1 October 2015, Uttama Savanayana, the Minister of Information and Communications Technology (MICT), held a press briefing about symbolic cyber-attacks on several government websites on Wednesday night by internet users who oppose government plans to reduce internet gateways to one.

Thailand’s junta should immediately disclose the whereabouts of a former government minister whom the military detained on September 9, 2015, Human Rights Watch said today. Pichai Naripthaphan, who was energy minister from 2011 to 2012, is being held in incommunicado detention.

The Thai junta has summoned one Pheu Thai politician after another, saying that they are sabotaging the regime with false and biased comments. According to Matichon Online, the military on Thursday, 10 September 2015, summoned Karun Hosakul, a former Member of Parliament of the Pheu Thai Party, to the 11th Army Division headquarters. Matichon reported that Pimchana Hosakul, the politician’s wife, was not informed about the military summons.

A poll conducted by a think tank in Thailand’s Deep South shows that people in the restive border provinces are in favour of peace talks despite their distrust of state volunteer corps. The latest survey on how people in the southern border provinces of Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat view the violent conflict, social issues, justice system, and peace process between the Thai state and the Muslim insurgent groups shows that 76.9 per cent of the local population, the majority of whom are Muslims, are in favour of the ongoing peace process.

The military court granted bail to a red shirt woman accused of defaming the Thai junta leader. At around 12 am on Monday, the Bangkok Military Court granted 100,000 baht bail to Rinda Parichabutr, a red shirt woman nicknamed “Lin,” 45, who was arrested last week for spreading a false rumour through social networks that Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, the junta leader and Prime Minister, and his wife sent about 10 billion baht to a secret bank account in Singapore.
