<p>JAKARTA - 20 April 2021: Regional lawmakers have today called on ASEAN to extend an invitation to Myanmar’s newly-established National Unity Government (NUG) for its special summit on the country, which will take place on Saturday in Jakarta, Indonesia.</p>

<p>On 28th February 2011, the Thai Foreign Minister Mr. Kasit Piromya, addressed the 16th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva at its High Level Segment (HLS). The HLS, which takes place in March of each year, was the first Ministerial level speech that Thailand delivered since it was elected as a member of the Council in May 2010. </p>
<p>It is up to each country that Thaksin Shinawatra visits to decide whether to extradite him or not, and extradition can be done either on a reciprocal basis or under an existing extradition agreement. But countries are concerned that extradition must not be carried out for political reasons. Thaksin has been involved in both political and criminal cases, and this makes it difficult to see the difference. We have tried to explain that our extradition requests are based on criminal grounds, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya told reporters on 28 Dec. </p>
