<p>Critic of the monarchy Somsak Jeamteerasakul was warmly cheered by a hundred supporters when summoned this morning to Nang Lerng Police Station to hear a l&egrave;se majest&eacute; charge regarding his response to <a href="http://www.prachatai.com/english/node/2406">Princess Chulabhorn&rsquo;s comments.</a></p>
<p>Somsak Jeamteerasakul reported to the police with many supporters and reporters present at the police station. He denied the l&egrave;se majest&eacute; charge and said that he will fight the case.&nbsp; An air force officer who faces a similar charge was also there to give him moral support.</p>
<p>Is there anyone who takes care of everything everywhere, come rain or come shine?&nbsp; Is there anyone who has good ideas and great dreams? I want that person to protect and care for us and, when we&rsquo;re weak, support us to be strong.&nbsp; If we have that person always ready to stand close &hellip; then this is the one my heart is waiting for.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Khon Kaen - At an event marking one year since the dispersal of public demonstrations in which 92 people were killed and over 2,000 injured, speakers from four major non-government groups gathered yesterday to assess the progress of recent reports into the outbreak of violence during April and May 2010.</p>
<p>The latest signal of the worsening atmosphere of freedom of expression in Thailand is the summoning of Dr. Somsak Jeamteerasakul to the police station to hear charges filed against him by the Army. </p>
<p>The Constitutional Court has postponed its ruling on the case of Daranee Charnchoengsilpakul to 17 Oct, the Criminal Court told her lawyer Prawase Praphanukul yesterday.</p>
<p>On 8 May, a group of about 20 people held a rally to call for the abolition of Article 112 of the Criminal Code at various BTS stations.</p>
<p>Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij wrote on his <a href="https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10150242421724740&amp;id=71254499739">Facebook page</a> on 7 May that he and his wife had just eaten at a restaurant on Thong Lo off Sukhumvit Rd.&nbsp; Customers sitting at the next table told them that UDD leader Natthawut Saikua and his family had just left their very table less than five minutes before.</p> <p class="rtecenter"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5222/5696849931_a09ef90173_z.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>The UDD&rsquo;s moves which &lsquo;threaten, offend and violate&rsquo; the monarchy result from the &lsquo;Lom Chao&rsquo; (overthrow the monarchy) movement which has been widely spreading its influence and dominating the core leaders, said a presenter of a news programme on the government-owned National Broadcasting Services of Thailand on 2 May.</p>
<p>Dr. Somsak Jeamteerasakul, a prominent historian from Thammasat University, is another victim of lese majeste law. The Thai army has officially filed a complaint against Dr. Somsak and he is due to hear the detail of the charge at Nang Lerg Police Station in Bangkok this coming Wednesday at 10am.</p>
<p>On 4 May, Somsak Kosaisuk, leader of the New Politics Party, posted a statement on his <a href="http://www.facebook.com/#!/notes/somsak-kosaisook/%E0%B8%84%E0%B8%B3%E0%B8%9B%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B0%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A8%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%99%E0%B9%89%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%9E%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%84%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A3%E0%B9%8">Facebook page</a> to rebut a recent press statement by a group of the party&rsquo;s executive board members led by Secretary-General Suriyasai Katasila calling for a boycott of the upcoming election.</p>
<p>The denial of bail for Somyos Prueksakasemsuk is like a verdict in advance, even though the court has yet to determine whether the content in Red Power magazine is offensive or not as it has not yet been proved, said Suwit Lertkraimethi, member of the 24th June Democracy group, at a press conference on 4 May.</p>
