After a legal battle lasting almost 8 years, a torture victim wrongfully arrested for theft has lodged a civil lawsuit against the Thai police. Rittirong Chuenjit, 26, on 26 May 2017 filed suit against the Royal Thai Police at the Southern Bangkok Civil Court.

After a lengthy probe into the royal monument park corruption scandal, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) concluded no trace of corruption was found in the construction overseen by the Thai army. On 7 September 2016, Pol Gen Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit, the NACC chairman, announced that the NACC investigation committee had found no evidence of corruption in the procurement procedure for the construction of Rajabhakti Park.

The outspoken niece of a soldier who was brutally tortured to death in a military barrack has said that an army officer involved in the torture of her uncle has been promoted to a higher rank. The same army officer has accused the niece of offences under the Computer Crime Act.

The Office of Auditor-General said he wanted to give it another try in the effort to hold the authorities accountable for wasting millions of baht on bogus bomb detectors sold by a British conman.  Five years since it came to light that more than one billion baht was spent on fake devices, a renewed call to hold someone accountable has come days after a British court seized assets belonging to the Briton behind the international scam.

Military officers managing Rajabhakti Park, the military’s royal theme park plagued with allegations of corruption, have asked Hua Hin Municipality to pay for the maintenance of the park. Jirawat Prammanee, Deputy City Clerk of Hua Hin Municipality in the central province of Prachuap Khiri Khan, told the media that the Executive Committee of Rajabhakti Park has asked Hua Hin Municipality to pay 120,000 baht (about 3,400 USD) per month for the maintenance costs of the park, Posttoday reported.

No trace of corruption or malfeasance was found in the construction of a royal monument overseen by former army chief Udomdej Sitabutr as widely alleged in media reports, a junta-appointed committee declared today. Concluding a three-month investigation, the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission said Wednesday there was no evidence to back up allegations Gen. Udomdej, himself a member of the junta, engaged in any corrupt practices in the Rajabhakti Park project completed last year in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

The Administrative Court of Thailand has acquitted National Park authorities accused of burning down the houses of a Karen ethnic minority village in an attempt to evict them, saying that the Karen encroached into protected areas.     According to the Daily News, the Central Administrative Court at 10 am on Monday, 8 February 2016, acquitted the Department of National Parks and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of malfeasance charges.

Five years after the allegations were first made, the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) has taken up charges against a former Superintendent of a National Park in western Thailand for allegedly evicting Karen villagers and setting fire to their village.
