The Appeal Court ruled yesterday (20 October) to uphold the Narathiwat Provincial Court’s ruling to sentence a 28-year-old woman to 6 years in prison for royal defamation.

A court in Narathiwat on Wednesday (19 October) sentenced a 31-year-old woman to 9 years in prison on charges of royal defamation and violation of the Computer Crimes Act for sharing Facebook posts about the use of violence to disperse pro-democracy protesters in 2020 and the public being prohibited from using Sanam Luang.

A 26-year-old woman was sentenced on 2 August to 6 years in prison for royal defamation and violation of the Computer Crimes Act for Facebook posts and comments made in late January 2021.

A factory worker has been sentenced to 6 years in prison on charges of royal defamation and violation of the Computer Crimes Act over two of 7 Facebook posts made in late 2020 – early 2021.
