<p>A bridge near the Khiakkai parliament complex was found over the weekend to have been renamed after a leader of the 1933 pro-monarchy Boworadet Rebellion.</p>

<p>15th July was marked by a celebration of the 123th anniversary of the birth of Field Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram, a leader of the People&rsquo;s Party which instigated the 1932 Siamese Democratic Revolution. Despite his later transformation into a fascist, activists urged the new generation to learn from the successes and mistakes of the revolution.</p>

<p>The 24 June 1932 democratic revolution has gained wide public attention on its 88th anniversary. State reaction to the people&rsquo;s movement celebrating the revolution is based on suspicion and threats, while the military glorify the rebels who tried by force to reinstate the monarchy.</p>

<p>On Tuesday (24 March), an announcement was posted in the Royal Gazette stating that King Vajiralongkorn has approved a name change for two military bases in Lopburi, which were previously named after revolutionary leaders, renaming them after his parents.</p>
