Turning back to answers from past Commanders-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army when asked if there would be a coup d’état, Chalermchai insisted “there won’t be one”; Teerachai smiled but didn’t answer; Udomdej affirmed that there definitely wouldn’t be one; Prayut gave answers that started as chaotic to a question that can’t be answered and as we know, Anupong insisted that there definitely wouldn’t be one, and Sonthi said there probably wouldn’t be one before saying “some questions cannot be answered even after death”.

Military officers managing Rajabhakti Park, the military’s royal theme park plagued with allegations of corruption, have asked Hua Hin Municipality to pay for the maintenance of the park. Jirawat Prammanee, Deputy City Clerk of Hua Hin Municipality in the central province of Prachuap Khiri Khan, told the media that the Executive Committee of Rajabhakti Park has asked Hua Hin Municipality to pay 120,000 baht (about 3,400 USD) per month for the maintenance costs of the park, Posttoday reported.

Protection International and the Asian Human Rights Commission are seriously concerned about the Royal Thai Army’s latest intervention in the conflict between the Wang Saphung community in Loei Province with a neighbouring gold and copper mine. On Monday, 25 August, the Wang Saphung community organization, the Khon Rak Ban Kerd Group (KBRK), invited community members to take part in a campaign in the village on the following day. This activity was aimed at restating the KBRK’s community-based support at a time when KBRK members are facing judicial harassment and death threats.
