Sitanun Satsaksit, sister of missing activist in exile Wanchalearm Satsaksit, was met by a police blockade yesterday (21 February) when she attempted to protest in front of the Shinawatra family residence during a visit by former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen with Thaksin Shinawatra.

Friends and family members of missing activist in exile Wanchalearm Satsaksit celebrated his 41st birthday on 11 August.  No progress has been made in the investigation into his disappearance.

<p>He worked for the current Bangkok governor and was photographed with an ousted Thai premier and a current Phnom Penh deputy governor. Missing since 2020, Wanchalearm Satsaksit also helped other Thai dissidents flee to Cambodia. But his associates have sought to erase all ties.</p>

<p>As the fate remains unknown of Wanchalearm Satsaksit, an activist in self-imposed exile in Cambodia who was abducted in 2020, his sister and activists campaigning for justice in his case moved closer to being jailed after the latest court ruling in favour of strict enforcement of the Emergency Decree to control Covid-19.</p>

<p>Amnesty International launched an urgent&nbsp;call for action, demanding the Thai authorities to drop all proceedings against Sitanun Satsaksit, a sister of Wanchalearm, one of the abducted Thai exiles and ensure safety and enabling atmosphere for human rights advocacies.</p>

<p>On 2 June, Sitanan Satsaksit, the sister of Wanchalearm Satsaksit and legal advisors sought an audience with the Cambodian ambassador to Thailand to request an update on an investigation into the political refugee&rsquo;s abduction in Phnom Penh on 4 June 2020.&nbsp; Their request was denied before they could enter the Cambodian Embassy in Bangkok.</p>

<p>Sitanun Satsaksit, sister of missing activist in exile Wanchalearm Satsaksit, was included on a police special &lsquo;red level&rsquo; watchlist, said the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/CrCF.Thailand/photos/a.417098988337393/5013956021984977/">Cross-Cultural Foundation (CrCF)</a> today (22 April).</p>

<p>Sitanun Satsaksit, sister of missing activist in exile Wanchalearm Satsaksit, submitted to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNOHCHR) on Monday (4 April) a statement calling for the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED) to address Cambodia&rsquo;s failure to investigate Wanchalearm&rsquo;s disappearance.</p>

<p>Sitanun Satsaksit, sister of missing activist-in-exile <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/9273">Wanchalearm Satsaksit</a>, has sent letters to three Thai government agencies asking for updates on their investigation into her brother&rsquo;s enforced disappearance, but has yet to receive a reply.</p>

<p>Sitanun Satsaksit, sister of missing activist in exile Wanchalearm Satsaksit, has been charged with violation of the Emergency Decree for giving a speech at a protest on 5 September 2021 at the Asoke Intersection.</p>

<p>A year has passed since the disappearance of Thai human rights activist, Wanchalearm Satsaksit. Witnesses report that he was forcibly abducted from a street near his home in Phnom Penh, where he had been living in self-imposed exile. Despite considerable public interest in the case, the investigation has made little headway.</p>
