A man who physically assaulted serial petitioner Srisuwan Janya has been sentenced to 15 days in prison and fined 107,000 baht.

<p>Sureerat Chiwarak, mother of student activist Parit Chiwarak, has received a summons from Thong Lo Police Station on a violation of the Emergency Decree charge.</p>

<p>Two students from Chiang Mai University have received police summonses on charges under the lèse majesté law and the 1979 Flag Act for an art installation piece exhibited at an event in March 2021.</p>

<p>Jomtien Hospital and Bangkok Hospital Rayong have announced the dismissal of Dr Saravin Thongrong for &ldquo;inappropriate behaviour against the rules of the company&rdquo; after his comments on the late King Bhumibol surfaced on the internet. Right-wing activists have called for his license to be revoked and for him to be prosecuted under the lèse-majesté law. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Yesterday (4&nbsp;March), the Election Commission (EC) accepted a petition filed by Srisuwan Janya&nbsp;against Thanathorn Juangroonruangkit for violating Section 73(5) of the 2017 organic law on the election of MPs.</p>

<p dir="ltr">A well-known anti-corruption activist has denounced the junta’s 20-year national strategy planning, saying the selection process of the committee members is not democratic.</p> <p>On 1 October 2017, Srisuwan Janya, Secretary-General of a political group called the Association to Protect the Thai Constitution (APTC), issued a statement to denounce the appointment of 70 people into the six sub-strategy committees of the junta’s 20-year national strategy planning body.</p> <p>The appointment was published in the Royal Gazette on 28 September 2017.</p>

<p>A well-known anti-corruption activist has called on the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to probe a Deputy Prime Minister and the national police chief over the flight of fugitive former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.</p>

<p>The Administrative Court has sentenced an anti-corruption activist to 14 months imprisonment for contempt of court, but the jail term is suspended for three years.</p> <p>On 21 August 2017, the Supreme Administrative Court sentenced Srisuwan Janya, Secretary-General of a political group called the Association to Protect the Thai Constitution (APTC), to 14 months in prison and a fine of 700,000 baht. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The Office of the Ombudsman of Thailand (OOT) has dismissed allegations of irregularities in the junta’s multi-billion baht submarine deal with China. &nbsp;</p> <p>Raksagecha Chaechai, Secretary-General of the OOT, announced that the OTT found no irregularities in the 13.5 billion baht submarine procurement of the Royal Thai Navy (RTN), concluding that is not unconstitutional.</p> <p>He said a five-member committee tasked with investigating the matter concluded that the procurement was done in accordance with national strategic defence policy and that the RTN proposed the procurement.</p>

<p>After spending billions on submarines and tanks, the Ministry of Defence is planning to spend another 8.8 billion baht on new fighter jets for the Air Force.</p> <p>On 10 July 2017, the Ministry of Defence revealed that Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, the Defence Minister, will submit a proposal to the cabinet meeting on 11 July to procure eight T-50TH fighter jets from South Korea for the Royal Thai Air Force. The deal will cost the country about 8.8 billion baht.</p>
