<div>&nbsp;</div> <div>A Thai mother and father have sued their daughter, a vocal anti-establishment red-shirt residing in the UK, for posting video clips of herself defaming the monarchy after they received a storm of hate phone calls from Thai loyalists.&nbsp;</div> <div> </div>
<p>On 8 Dec, the Criminal Court sentenced <a href="http://www.prachatai.com/english/search/node/Joe%20Gordon">Joe Gordon</a>, a Thai-born American citizen, to 5 years in jail for l&egrave;se majest&eacute;, but reduced the jail term by half as he had pleaded guilty.</p>
<p>On 13 June, the lawyer and family of Joe Gordon or Lerpong Wichaikhammat petitioned the Criminal Court for bail, citing the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and his urgent need of medical treatment for high blood pressure and gout.&nbsp; </p>
<p>Joe Gordon, 54, has been arrested by the Department of Special Investigation in Nakhon Ratchasima for l&egrave;se majest&eacute; and computer crimes.&nbsp; The DSI alleges that he owns a blog which offers a link to download The King Never Smiles.</p>
