<p>After more than a week of criticism, the governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has issued a postponement of the 33 million THB deal given to a private company to build the Grand Station<span dir="RTL" lang="TH">&rsquo;</span>s new signs.</p>

<p>The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) faces public outrage for commissioning a private company to build a 1 million USD sign to change the name of its central station. An investigation is underway and suspicious dealings have been questioned.</p>

<p>21 October 2020&nbsp;guilty verdict handed down to 13 leaders of the State Railway Workers&rsquo; Union of Thailand (SRUT) is a gross miscarriage of justice and a brazen attack on workers&rsquo; rights.</p>

<p>Railway workers have urged the junta leader to halt amendment of the railway law, citing lack of public participation.</p>

<p>Leading Thai architects and the national association of engineers have denounced the use of Section 44 to speed up the Thai-Chinese high-speed railway line project between Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima, pointing out that it puts public safety at risk.</p> <p>“The use of the special law as an exception to building an approach to good governance … may cause confusion and mistrust in the rush to implement the project,” reads <a href="http://eit.or.th/picture-training/press-release.pdf">the statement of the Engineering Institute of Thailand Under H.M. the King’s Patronage (EIT)</a>.</p>

<p>A civil society group submitted a complaint urging the government to solve land conflicts between poor urban communities and private landowners after the poor were threatened with lawsuits and evictions. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
