Doctors say they found no physical injuries on the body of a suspected insurgent who died in custody in the Deep South, but the suspect’s wife maintains that her husband died from ‘unnatural’ causes.
On Tuesday, 15 December 2015, Lt Gen Manee Chanthip, Deputy Commander of the 4th Army Region, and the medical staff of Songklanagarind Hospital in Hat Yai District of southern Songkhla Province, jointly held a press briefing on the controversial death in custody of Abdullayib Dolah, 42, a suspect in the assassination of a Muslim cleric in Pattani Province.

Thai authorities should promptly and impartially investigate the alleged torture of suspects in military detention, Human Rights Watch said today. To prevent further abuses, the government should immediately transfer all civilians detained at military facilities to officially recognized civilian places of detention.

A civil society human rights organisation has urged the Thai authorities to carry out an ‘independent’ investigation into the mysterious death in custody of a drug trafficking suspect.
On Tuesday, 17 November 2015, the Cross Cultural Organisation (CrCF), a civil society human rights organisation, issued a public statement about the sudden death of Anan Koedkaew, 34, a drug trafficking suspect who died mysteriously three days after interrogation.
Anan was arrested by investigators of Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police on 9 November 2015.

The Criminal Court sentenced four people accused of shooting grenades into People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) protesters in early 2014 to death, but reduced the sentence to life imprisonment.
On Friday, morning the Southern Criminal Court of Bangkok handed down the death sentence to Chatchawan Prabbamrung, Somsri Marit, Sunthorn Pipuannog, and Tweechai Wichakam after convicted the four of murder and possessions of weapons of war, including, carrying illegal weapons in public.

A mother is suing the Thai Ministry of Defence and the Royal Thai Army over the death of her son, who was allegedly tortured by army officers shortly before his death.
According the Cross Cultural Foundation (CrCf), a CSO promoting human rights and cultural diversity, on Wednesday morning, 26 August 2015, the Civil Court of Bangkok, Ratchadaphisek Road, heard testimony from plaintiff witnesses in the case of the alleged torture of Somchai Si-ueangdoi.

An elderly bombing suspect has urged the police to reinvestigate his alleged brutal torture by military officers while he was detained under martial law.
Sansern Sriounruen, a 63 years-old suspect in a case related to explosions at the Bangkok Criminal Court and Siam Square, and planned explosive attacks in other locations in Bangkok in early March 2015, plans to submit a letter tomorrow, 21 July 2015, to request the Royal Thai Police to investigate his allegations of torture.
