Alleged NorporchorUSA webmaster asks to be removed from prison zone for serious criminals

The man arrested on allegations of being the webmaster of an anti-monarchy website NorporchorUSA wants to be transferred from a prison zone for convicts of serious crimes.

On 28 April, Thanthawut Thaweewarodomkul, who has been detained at the Bangkok Remand Prison and reportedly assaulted by inmates, said that the situation had improved with closer supervision by wardens. However, as he was only a defendant, he should have been kept in a zone for the people on remand, not in Zone 8 for serious convicts.

He also hoped to be granted bail so that he could look after his 8-year-old child who he cared for as a single parent and who was now being taken care of by his friend.

Thanthawut, 37, allegedly the webmaster of www.norporchorusa.com and www.norporchorusa2.com under the alias ‘Red Eagle’, was arrested on 1 April in Bangkok for offences under the lèse majesté law and the 2007 Computer Crimes Act.

In Thailand to be charged with lèse–majesté is to be found guilty of lèse–majesté.

As at Guantanamo the "guilt" or "innocence" of those actually charged is "immaterial". The means of conviction, by secret "trial" or by military tribunal, is assured so "guilt" or "innocence" is of no consequence. The action is undertaken to terrorize the general population.

As for this victim's young son... a "bonus" for the terrorists : the de facto Thai regime. What better means to terrorize the population than to threaten their blameless children?

I think the monarchy will survive all this, as has the British monarchy; but if it does not, should the monarchy fall, it will be due to the stupid, brutal, terrorist actions of its "defenders".

With friends like the "monarchists" the monarchy needs no enemies.

very sad to watch and obviously something that cannot continue as it risks Thailand reducing to a pariah state similar to Burma.
