The latest number of websites closed or blocked by the CRES is 1,150, increasing from 770 as of last week.  A source at the CRES, however, said that some websites had been inaccessible due to traffic overload, not ordered closed by the CRES, and blamed ISPs for redirecting to the CRES page.

According to Thai Rath Online, a source at the Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation said that during the period of political problems, the CRES ordered the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology to close 1,150 subversive websites, increasing from 770 websites the previous week.

These websites were closed because they incited people to attack or come out to fight the government, the source said.

However, some websites which have been inaccessible and redirected to the CRES page (http://58.97.5.29/www.capothai.org/) have not been ordered closed by the CRES.  This probably results from traffic overload preventing access.  The source said the ISPs would be instructed not to redirect to the CRES page, to prevent a misunderstanding that the CRES had ordered this.
