Foreign Ministry revokes passports of 9 fugitive UDD leaders

The Foreign Ministry has revoked the passports of 9 leaders of the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship at the request of the police.

According to Thani Thongpakdi, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information of the Foreign Ministry, on 27 Oct the Ministry revoked the passports at the request of the police, in accordance with ministerial regulations, and the revocation took immediate effect.  Arrest warrants for the 9 leaders were issued by the Criminal Court during the red-shirt March-April rallies.  He could not reveal their names.

According to Thaipost, the 9 leaders include Arisman Pongruengrong, Suporn Atthawong, Pol Lt Col Waipoj Apornrat, Payap Pankate, Adisorn Piengkate, Aree Krainara, Shinawat Haboonpad, Samrueng Prachamrua and Kanyaphak Maneechak.  They have been charged with terrorism and have fled abroad.
