Teenage film trailer banned for kissing scenes

The censors have banned a trailer for ‘Love Julinsee Rak Man Yai Mak’ for kissing scenes performed by teenage actors.

A source at the Films and Videos Office under the Office of the National Culture Commission said that the scenes were not proper, and the 2-minute trailer contained 4 such scenes which could be imitated by teenagers.  Some characters even performed the kissing while wearing junior high school uniforms.

Although ratings do not apply to movie trailers, they must be submitted to the censorship board for consideration before being shown in cinemas.  The trailer, however, was shown during the New Year before it was submitted to the board last week.  This was a violation under the 2008 Films and Videos Act, and if anybody lodges a complaint, theatres which showed the trailer can be fined between 200,000 and 1,000,000 baht, the source said.
