Note: This poem is from Mrs. Rosmalin (Aunty Oo), the wife of Mr. Amphon, or Ah Kong [Uncle] SMS. Mr. Amphon is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for allegedly sending 4 SMS messages with lese majesté content to the secretary of Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, while he was in office as the prime minister.
5 May 2012 | We arrive at the 44th year of being together |
Both tremendous happiness and sorrow | Today, changes upon changes |
We are utterly thrown by the tempest that comes | Our bodies collapse, shaken |
Yet we are still of one heart | Standing to meet fate |
If today I could chant an incantation | And what I dream of is granted |
And everything I await becomes real | All I ask is for you to be returned |
The path we walk is lined with thorns | Even as I weep, I will try to resist defeat |
I will fight against degradation | Waiting for you, my spirit is not dampened |
Even though today it is still dim, desolate | Yet we may hope for a new day |
Tomorrow may hold a fast-track to the finish line | To begin again in our old age |
Until death parts us | |
For you, |
|
Aunty Oo |
