Academics call on the government to hold referendum to amend the constitution, dissolve the parliament.

Puangthong Pawakapan, Political Science professor from Chulalongkorn University said the government could announce first about the referendum, which required the government to announce three months prior, then dissolve the parliament, required to be announced 45 days prior according to the constitution.

“Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra should consider resolving political conflicts caused by 2007 constitution, and establish Constitution Drafting Committee,” said Puangthong at Ubon Ratchathani University.

“We think that in such crisis, the government must give back the power to make political decision to the people, and insist the importance of maintaing the parliamentary democracy.”
