On the night of February 3rd, unknown assailants dressed in black attacked the house of Jaemu Maman, a religious teacher in Narathiwat Province in the Deep South. A hail of live bullets hit the house, killing on the spot three of his children, 6-year-old Ilyas Maman, 9-year-old Bahari Maman and 11-year-old Muhayek Maman.
On the night of February 3rd, unknown assailants dressed in black attacked the house of Jaemu Maman, a religious teacher in Narathiwat Province in the Deep South. A hail of live bullets hit the house, killing on the spot three of his children, 6-year-old Ilyas Maman, 9-year-old Bahari Maman and 11-year-old Muhayek Maman. Their mother, Padeela Maeyu, also a religious teacher, was shot in the shoulder.

The ethnic and religious conflict in the southernmost provinces has already claimed over 5,700 lives since 2004, with more than 10,200 people injured.
