Lèse majesté charge related to adultery filed against ex-princess's parents

A woman filed a lèse majesté complaint against the parents of the former royal consort to the Crown Prince, claiming that the couple framed her and made her go to jail.

Sawita Maneechan, 31, a native of western Ratchaburi Province, filed a complaint against Abhiruj Suwadee, 72, and Wantanee Suwadee, 66, the parents of Srirasmi Suwadee, former royal consort of Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn. Sawita accused the couple of offences under Article 112 of the Criminal Code, filing a false police complaint, and framing others, which led to the person serving a term in jail.

She said the alleged crimes took place in 2003, when she was 20 years old. She was falsely accused of committing adultery with Abhiruj. The accusation defamed the Suwadee and her family. In revenge, Abhiruj allegedly filed a false complaint to a high ranking police officer, who is his relative. The charge led to Sawita being jailed for fraud for a year and six months. She added that the accusations led to her whole family suffering social stigma.

Thai media reported that the couple will testify to the police at the Crime Suppress Division on Friday.
