Thai military have summoned a village chief in Thailand’s northeast to a military base over a banner protesting against the junta’s draft constitution at an administrative meeting.

According to Krungthepturakij News, military personnel from the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) of the northeastern province of Khon Kaen and police officers stormed into a provincial public administration meeting in Mueang District of Khon Kaen province at around 11 am on Tuesday.

The officers ordered meeting participants to stop displaying and taking pictures of a banner saying “Against the Draft Constitution Articles 82(3), 284(5), 285 and the Decentralisation Bill.”

After issuing the order, the officers summoned Tassanai Suksabai, the chief of Ban Ped village who was responsible for printing the banner, for an attitude adjustment talk at Sri Pacharin Military Base in the province.

Tassanai was released after about an hour of conversation with Maj Gen Thanakit Tabtongsit, the chief of the base.

In addition to the summons, the military also ordered a printing shop in the province, which was hired by Tassanai to print 600 banners, to stop printing and confiscated all the banners which were already completed.

According to Tuan Tong, the owner of the printing shop, Tassanai ordered him on Saturday to print 600 banners.
