The administrators of a famous political and social satire Facebook page have been accused of criminal defamation and violation of the Computer Crime Act.

On 26 January 2017, Atchariya Rueangratanapong, President of the Help Crime Victim Club, filed a legal complaint against the administrators of the political and social satire Facebook page called ‘Drama-addict’ at Phra Pradaeng Police Station in Samut Prakan Province.

Atchariya accused the administrators of the page of criminal defamation and violation of the Computer Crime Act for publishing information alleging that he and police officers were involved in an 11 million baht fraud.

He said that the information posted on the Facebook page defamed him and was baseless.   

Atchariya has previously initiated lèse majesté charges that led to a man being sentenced to 9 years in prison, reduced to 6.

An officer of Phra Pradaeng Police Station accepted the complaint, saying that they will gather evidence and summon the administrators of Drama-addict for interrogation.

In response to the complaint, Drama-addict said that the information about the corruption allegations was taken from official court documents. Therefore, they are not afraid of the legal complaint.

“Go ahead and sue us, it’s no problem. We have already prepared a lawyer,” was part of the message posted on Drama-addict in response to the complaint filed against them.
