Sitanun Satsaksit: A changed life

"If you lose someone, no matter how many years, you won’t be able to forget."

Sitanun Satsaksit is the older sister of Wanchalearm Satsaksit, a Thai refugee who was abducted from his residence in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 4 June 2020.

Sitanun and her legal team have spent the last year gathering evidence regarding her brother's disappearance, and submitted them to both the Thai and Cambodian authorities. However, official investigation seems to have stalled, while Wanchalearm's fate remains unknown.

Prachatai speaks to Sitanun about the progress in her brother's case, and how her life has changed since she made the decision to do everything she can to find and call for justice for her brother.

Since 2007, Prachatai English has been covering underreported issues in Thailand, especially about democratization and human rights, despite the risk and pressure from the law and the authorities. However, with only 2 full-time reporters and increasing annual operating costs, keeping our work going is a challenge. Your support will ensure we stay a professional media source and be able to expand our team to meet the challenges and deliver timely and in-depth reporting.
