DSI to ask CRES about anti-monarchy network

Submitted by prachatai on Sun, 4 Jul 2010 - 03:26 PM

The DSI will ask the CRES for information on 27 anti-monarchists whom the CRES has accused of plotting against the institution.

DSI Deputy Director General Pol Col Yanaphol Yangyuen said on 3 July that a chart which had previously been publicized by the CRES had identified 27 people involved in the crime of lèse majesté, which threatens national security.  These 27 persons have not been arrested.

DSI investigators will meet with the CRES to ask for information and evidence implicating these people.  The DSI will then investigate the records of the suspects, and consider whether each of them is involved in an anti-monarchy plot.

Yanaphol said that the DSI was collecting information on internet users who posted comments, and making a watch list.  If it finds inappropriate comments, it will visit the posters to give them a warning as the initial step, and will make arrests for further offences.
