Lawyers representing detained activist Ekkachai Hongkangwan have asked for him to be transferred to the Thammasat University Hospital after a tumour was found in his abdomen.

Detained political activist Ekkachai Hongkangwan has been transferred to the Corrections Hospital due to a high fever. Upon examination, he was found to have abnormal kidney function and leukocytosis.

<p>The prosecutor has filed suits against 5 activists and protesters for allegedly harming HM the Queen when a royal motorcade passed pro-democracy protesters on 14 October 2020.</p>

<p>On Christmas day, the Criminal Court dismissed all charges against 9 activists who called for an election in front of the MBK department store in January 2018.</p>

<p>Anon Nampa, Ekkachai Hongkangwan, Somyot Pruksakasemsuk, and Suranat Paenprasoet, who have been imprisoned for the past 20 days on charges relating to recent pro-democracy protests, have been released after a court denied a police request for their continued temporary detention.</p>

<p>Thai&nbsp;authorities should urgently and impartially investigate assaults on three prominent pro-democracy activists since May 2019, <a href="https://www.hrw.org/news/2019/06/04/thailand-3-junta-critics-assaulted-past-month">Human Rights Watch</a> said last week. Thai police have yet to arrest any suspects for the violent attacks, raising serious concerns about possible government involvement.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Someone has ordered me dead,&rdquo; said the 7-times assaulted anti-junta activist Ekkachai Hongkangwan.</p>
