<p>A lawsuit has been filed in response to the decision of a Chulalongkorn University (CU) executive to not reimburse the cost of producing a student magazine commemorating the life and work of Jit Phumisak, a renowned left-wing intellectual and former CU alumni.</p>

<p>The Student Government of Chulalongkorn University (SGCU) has proposed that 6 October of every year be designated the International Day for the Protection of Students&rsquo; Freedom of Expression.</p>

<p>Prachatai spoke to a number of participants in the demonstration, including a group of student observers from Chulalongkorn University, a family with a young child, a man campaigning for a more open beer production law, Spokedark TV&rsquo;s Winyu Wongsurawat, and art critic Thanom Chapakdee, about their goals in joining the protest at the Democracy Monument on 16 August.&nbsp;</p>
