<p>On 16 August 2012, the <a href="http://www.mekongmigration.org">Mekong Migration Network</a> and the Asian Migrant Centre co-hosted the launch of the book, From Our Eyes: Mekong Migrant Reflections: 2000 &ndash; 2012, at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand ( FCCT) in Bangkok.</p>

<p>On 17 April, while the people of Thailand were enjoying the long holidays for the New Year and Songkran water festival, two Burmese migrants were found dead in the back of a deportation vehicle.&nbsp; Mr Maungg Soe (25), and&nbsp; Ms Ma Mi Lar (36) were two of 62 migrants being deported from the Sadao Immigration office, in Songkhla Province, southern Thailand to Burma via the Mae Sot border crossing.</p>

<p>On the 7th of December 2011, the Mekong Migration Network (MMN) launched two new publications, Speaking of Migration: Mekong Vocabulary on Migration and Legally Binding: A Summary of Labour Laws in the Greater Mekong Subregion at the Cambodiana Hotel in Phnom Penh.</p>

<p>The Mekong Migration Network (MMN) is deeply concerned for the well being and safety of the hundreds of thousands of migrant workers in the flooded provinces of Thailand. Member organizations based in Bangkok and surrounding areas are trying hard to provide relief and support to migrant workers from Burma, Lao and Cambodia, but are finding it impossible to reach all the migrants affected. Many of the industrial estates where migrants worked are now flooded and the factories closed. </p>

<p>On Monday 4th April 2011, Thailand witnessed another terrible road accident. 16 Burmese migrant workers were killed and nearly 50 injured when the truck that they were packed onto collided with another truck in Samut Sakorn Province, near Bangkok, Thailand. The workers were on their way to work at a food processing factory in Mahachai. Many of these workers had followed the new rules and regulations to have their nationality verified and held temporary passports.</p>

<p>On 18 Jan, the Mekong Migration Network (MMN) sent a letter to the government and relevant agencies to oppose the recent deportation of Cambodian beggars and call on the Thai Government to immediately put in place effective and appropriate screening processes to prevent the deportation of migrants who have the right to protection.</p>
