The Good Samaritan may soon be extinct in Thailand if the police response to a recent road traffic accident becomes the norm. It all started with a run of the mill hit-and-run. A tinted-window Mercedes (is there any other kind?) side-swiped a bicycle that was dutifully trundling along in the gutter, bringing down both rider and machine. Nothing life-threatening and the bike was damaged but repairable. Not that the Merc driver knew. He was long gone.

Along with the removal of the 1932 Revolution memorial plaque, recordings from 11 CCTVs surrounding the site seem likewise to have gone missing. The police have also now prohibited photos and activities around the new ‘fresh-faced’ plaque.

Police officers have beaten a gambler to death in the middle of a residential area. The officers disappeared after the killing, according to a witness. On 3 November 2016, police officers from Sutthisan Police Station raided an illegal gambling house in Bangkok and beat Don Daengchantip, 34, to death, reported Manager Online. The gambling house is located in a high density area of Rungrueang.

A court on Saturday approved an arrest warrant for two high ranking police officers accused of defaming the King, asking for bribes, money laundering and misconduct. On the same warrant, three other police officers and three civilians were named.
