Thai Lawyers for Human Rights has reported that the Court of Appeal has allowed bail requests on behalf of Sirichai Natueng, Panadda Sirimasakul and Sam Samat, while rejecting those for 5 others detained for similar offences, citing a previous court ruling that they are likely to repeat violations of the law.

Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR) reports that the Courts have denied bail requests from 10 individuals held for participating in recent protests.  The courts contend that all ten are likely to violate the law and cause further disorder, if released.

Police arrested activists who tried to establish a camp close to the Democracy Monument on 13 October, a day prior to the appointed date for a big anti-dictatorship protest. 13 October is also the anniversary of the death of King Rama IX. A “Sleep in a camp, not in a jail” protest organized by the “We are Friends” group was held at the 14 October Memorial on 27-28 August. The group underlined the Free People demands for political and monarchy reform.
